Simple Nephrectomy

Laparoscopic Simple Nephrectomy is a minimally invasive technique to remove the entire that is usually used as a treatment for poorly functioning kidneys. Simple nephrectomy or removal of the entire kidney may be necessary for diseased kidneys that are causing problems such as pain, chronic infection, and high blood pressure or bleeding. The laparoscopic approach was developed as a less invasive alternative with a quicker recovery and a more favorable cosmetic result when compared to the tradiaitonal open surgical approach. Recent studies have shown equivalent results for well selected patients. . Not all cases are candidates for a laparoscopic approach – determinations are largely dependent on various patient factors.
